Employers are required to have a number of certified Occupational First Aiders in the workplace to administer first aid as required by the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 and the (General Application) Regulations 2007.
This course is delivered by professional firefighters and paramedics with many years of experience in front line emergency services. We set a high standard and the instructors are passionate about the training they deliver which guarantees student interaction and participation resulting in an enhanced learning outcome in this very popular course
Our Occupational First Aid (OFA) Programmes are delivered by FETAC Level 6 qualified Instructors who are recognised and approved by the Occupational First Assessment Agency (OFAAA) and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) to deliver Occupational First Aid Training Nationwide.
This programme requires a high level of student participation and interaction where the theory is enhanced by practical demonstration of skills and practical application by the students.
Course Aim
To provide the Occupational First Aider with the necessary skills to administer effective first aid in the workplace, to deal with emergencies, to assess and treat injuries and to maintain care and comfort of the casualty until medical treatment can be provided, to comply with Occupational Health and Safety legislation.

The content is set by FETAC and the modules are as follows:
- Course Introduction.
- Module 1 – First in the Workplace.
- Module 2 – Patient Assessment.
- Module 3 – Respiratory Emergencies.
- Module 4 – Cardiac First Response.
- Module 5 – Wounds and Bleeding.
- Module 6 – Altered Levels of Consciousness.
- Module 7 – Musculoskeletal Injuries.
- Module 8 – Burns and scalds, chemicals, electric shock.
- Course De-Brief and Assessment.
Course Attendance
Max number of 10 participants per course.
Duration of course is 3 days
Equipment
Workplace Fire & Safety Training will supply all equipment necessary for practical exercises.
Certification
All our instructors are registered with the Occupational First Aid Assessment Agent (OFAAA) on behalf of the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) and Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council (PHECC).
Module assessments will be performed as per module.
Certification assessments (theory and practical) will be held on Day 3 of the course.
On successful completion of this course a QQI level 5 Certificate will be issued, valid for 2 years.
